Ready for the flood of interest…

28 Mar

Or, so we can pray… and also that we might be ready for some good conversations.  Its not everyday you see this kind of thing in the Chicago Tribune.  I’ll admit I’ve been a bit voracious in reading news pieces leading up to this weekend (reviews, good and bad, by those who have and have not seen it).  Of course, here’s what I am talking about:

“The Deluge”, Gustave Dore. Ancient stories of a great flood are found worldwide, and as the Encylcopedia Britannica notes, “Oral history is still important in all parts of the world, and successful transmission of stories over many generations suggests that people without writing can have a sophisticated historical sense.”

And in case you’ve totally been under a rock for the past several months, here is the trailer for the Noah movie opening up this weekend:

Here are but two of the many interesting pieces I’ve read on the movie: an interview with the director in the Atlantic, and a piece from the Gospel coalition blog.

The California-based Christian evangelist Ray Comfort has also put together his own thirty minute movie about Noah.  Good thoughts for discussion as well.
